DISCOVERING SANTIAGO

We enjoyed a 1-1/2 hour bus ride from the sea to the foothills of the Andes admiring the scenery on route to Santiago.

Santiago, lies in a valley surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Andes.

We stopped at a nice garden park with a pond and many different plants.

We stopped at Los Dominicos arts and crafts market, where we will find a teeming collection of little shops built like a small village. We had time here to browse the products made from copper, wool, ceramics and lapis lazuli.

We stopped at a beautiful park with a gondola up to a Burby peak and had a nice lunch.

We headed south towards the centre of the city where we saw Plaza de Armas, the city's charming main square brimming with monuments in the heart of the historic centre.

We traveled along Santiago's vibrant main road and cross the river Mapocho to visit the Bohemian district of Bellavista, with its blend of period architecture, fashionable bars, thriving trees, art galleries and brightly coloured houses.
