Our trip today took us through Sydney’s west side and up into the Blure Mountains.

On our way there, we visited the Featherdale Wildlife Park to see the numerous local animal species that populate the park, including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, pluvial forest and inland birds, colourful parrots and reptiles.

We then continued into the Blue Mountains through the Leura and Katoomba suburbs. The mountain’s name derives from the blue haze generated by the rays of sunshine illuminating vapour drops in the atmosphere, an interesting scientific phenomenon that is particularly visible in this area due to the many eucalyptus trees.

We stopped at the Hydro Majestic Resort for a nice lunch including lamb, fish, and wine before continuing on to towards Scenic World Blue Mountains park, which offers a 360° view of the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls, Mount Solitary and the immense Jamison Valley riding two different trams and an incline to get down into the beautiful canyons below.

We had a delicious dinner on a harbor cruise to watch the sunset and then spent our first night on land in two months staying at the Sydney Marriott m.
