We boarded a speedboat and ziped out to Palomino Island and the Guanera Islands (Islas Guaneras) nature reserve.

As we passed San Lorenzo Island as our guide shedded light on the area’s rich pre-Columbian history. We passed many fishing boats bobbing on the water, and saw native bird colonies and Humboldt penguins.

On arrival at Palomino Island—home to a large colony of sea lions - we jumped into the rolling waves. We swan among the wild sea lions, and enjoyed an up-close experience with some of South America’s finest swimmers. With no natural predators to worry about, the sea lions were surprisingly friendly and bold.
