We started our day with 45 minute coach ride over to Lantau Island. This island is quiet and more ruram compared to much of Hong Kong.

We then switched cached and drove up into the mountains to the Po Lin Monastery, which it is often called 'the Buddhist world in the south. On the nearby peak sat a giant 34-metre high statue of the Giant Buddha. 276 steps lead to the foot of the statue overlooking the rolling green hills of the island.

We then visited the adjacent Ngong Ping village below, specially created for tourists who arrive each year from around the world. We found some of the typical souvenir shops and local handicraft items.

Next we took the coach down to the small timeless traditional fishing village of Ngong Ping. We saw many shall shops geared towards selling fish caught by the villages and many houses built up on wood stilts.
